Web-host OS upgrade
Had a bit of a hiccup with my web-host. They upgraded to a new OS and I needed to scramble to get a new version of the rendering software I use to output the card images. All should work fine now. Sorry for the inconvenience.In other news, I'm moving house soon, so I'm still going to be a bit behind, but once I get settled I plan on finally sitting down and getting back on track with KDY v2.
Tabletop Simulator Utilities
Just as an FYI for those who want to bring things into Tabletop Simulator, I've created a collection of resources for Armada: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=897127367
it has all the dice and defense tokens from KDY.
I've altered how defense tokens work as far as the various colors.
The Green/Red combo works as you expect.
The Blue/Yellow combo works like this: Blue gets flipped when used. Yellow gets discarded when used. Yellow is NOT refreshed to blue when vanilla tokens do. It's a two-time use type deal. Maybe new upgrades will let you refresh them, but for now they're just two-shots.
The Orange token gets discarded when used. It's a one-time use thing.
The Future of KDY
Time for a peak behind the curtain a little.KDY started off as a way for me to develop my own cards for Armada. I felt like sharing, so I did. I'm plodding around with a few ideas about what to do with it next that isn't just iterative versions. I've gotten a handful of requests to start supporting other games, like X-wing and Firestorm Armada. I've also been kicking around a few ideas for game engines of my own.To that end, KDY v2 is being worked on slowly, in my spare time. It's going to be a complete rewrite, with a lot more features and hopefully a better user experience (I'm not a fan of the current layout system). Chances are it will take quite a while, but I've got a few three-day weekends coming up and my life should be stabilizing soon. So far, I'm going endeavour to support SW: Armada, X-Wing, Rebellion, ST: Attack Wing, Firestorm Armada, Firefly the Boardgame, Twilight Imperium, and a few others, plus my own homebrew systems.As I get closer to finishing this, I'll post more about what to expect, and if there are any changes that will affect content.
Higher Quality Cards
Hey folks,One day, I will open a news post with something other than "folks", but that is not this day.Did a little bit of re-vamping of the rendering system. Font size and leading (spacing between lines) is smaller. In order to compensate for this, the preview versions of the cards on each individual page is larger. For those of you who use the preview cards for whatever reason (I believe that Green Knight uses them for Vassal, for example) should have an easier time. As of this post, I'm still having the server crawl through content to force a re-render - it is possible that it won't get to everything by the time to see it. If you are still seeing an old smaller version of a card, make sure you refresh without cache (for Chrome that is CTRL+SHIFT+R, I don't know what other browsers hotkey for such a thing is). That being said, if you are the owner of a card (or an admin) you can also Force Re-Render from a card's individual page.
A small update
I took some time to make a few changes. For one, I've updated a few things on the Print Queue
page. I've also changed it so that Faction Tokens and Defense Tokens are pre-rendered PDFs. Less load on the server when you want to print your tokens.
I've also tweaked the sizes of some ship and squadron dials. Bear in mind that the images you get from here are still 1/4 inch large in each direction than you expect (that is a 1/8th bleed on the left, right, top, and bottom).
