Small - 120° Broadsides (1/8 aft)
Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruiser
Originally I wanted the Dreadnaught to be a small base ship when I started work on the design but the model available was too large. Once I moved to 1/7000 scale it makes this a suitable size for the base. My justification also lies in the fact that this is considered to be a small ship compared to modern line cruisers. In an effort to help show the durability which is described in the cannon, I have attempted to concentrate on reduction of damage the vessel may recieve vs actually trying to spread it out with redirects. It is also considered very slow by modern standards, so I hope this shows in how I chose to model it despite its size. Anyway, a compact, logistics heavy, turbolaser armed warship with emphasis on line fighting and little else.Rebel variations generally retained more of the original point defense weapons and ion cannons then Imperial refits. Knowing Ackbar could be involved, I limited the Red dice available on this ships broadsides to help mitigate the advantage he would bring over the Imperial cousins. The Rebel variation also has 2 officer slots reflecting its common use as a command ship in early rebellion years as well as large crew requirments.
